This book, the second in this series, is designed to provide students with purposeful activities to explore and consider how relationships play such an important part in their lives.
Life Skills Book 2 activities present the skills students need to build and understand how friendships develop and how they are nurtured and nourished. The creation of a permanent form of bonding is important for the student's sense of belonging and connectedness. Students are asked to consider the structure that involves friendships and also the strategies that can be used to deal successfully with provocation and threatening situations that may occur.
Students will enjoy the variety and simplicity of the activities included in each unit. These units are non-threatening but encourage the students to seriously consider their friendships and relationships with peers and adults. By working through the units students will undoubtedly gain an insight into the qualities needed for them to become valued class members.
Teachers and parents will find this book an excellent vehicle for measuring and analysing their children's response to the challenges needed for a sense of connectedness and thus become emotionally stable, happy, participating youngsters.
Sadly for some their responses may indicate an inability to fully understand what is required to create and keep friendships. In such cases thought must be given to helping the students change their attitudes and by example and encouragement demonstrate the skills they must acquire to achieve lasting friendships.
