There are eight different emotions painted onto the wooden blocks and they can be arranged in over 4000 different ways to make a wide array of emotions to explore. Engaging in exploratory play helps children to make sense of the world in which they live. Understanding your own emotions and those of others can help children to further develop their social skills. Social skills can include the ability to join and exit play episode, form and maintain friendships, the ability to work alongside others in a team or group environment as well as share and take turns. When children can understand their emotions they can work through appropriate and safe ways of expressing them. Recognising emotions in others helps children to behave in safe and socially appropriate ways, enabling them to grow into active participants in their community.
