Using the graphite pencil in the set to draw out preliminary sketches and ideas, by varying the angle of the pencil lead and pressure on the paper you can achieve a different line thickness. Also included in the Faber-Castell Comic Illustration Set is a mechanical pencil and a pack of blue leads. Blue leads are commonly used by comic artist’s prior to drawing over with black ink. Blue lead does not show up on scans or digital copies when in black and white mode leaving only the black ink drawing visible. Your pencil sketches can be refined using the eraser provided prior to the inking stage. (both the graphite pencil or blue lead).
The easy to use Faber-Castell Artist Pitt pens in the set have various nib sizes and contain black pigmented waterproof ink. They are perfect for inking your drawings once your initial sketches are laid out. Draw over the pencil marks to refine your artwork using the pens. Both thick and thin lines can be achieved from XS (0.1mm), F (0.5mm) to varying widths when using the brush pen- simply change the angle and pressure. Faber-Castell Artist Pitt pens are excellent for filling in large areas or drawing bold expressive marks. A selection of six Goldfaber smudge and waterproof coloured pencils are included in the set. These key colours are perfect for colouring in your ink drawing and can be used for colour shading, achieving graduations or mixed together to create more colours.
