In this workbook children are introduced to advanced letter combinations (tion, sion, ph, igh etc). Many spelling rules are taught, as well as grammar, vocabulary, punctuation and some text types.
In this workbook children are given the opportunity to:
learn to recognise and use all the advanced digraphs
hone their decoding skills
improve spelling skills
improve punctuation skills
improve comprehension skills
learn names for different parts of speech
work with apostrophes
learn to build all tenses of verbs
classify and sort words
use alliteration and similes
improve their vocabulary and
increase their sight word vocabulary through a variety of activities.
These activities include:
writing missing letters
matching word to picture
drawing pictures to demonstrate comprehension of text
selecting correct words
answering yes or no, or selecting true or false to demonstrate comprehension of text
